Welcome to Nevada's Individual Career Mapping (ICM) process. The ICM is designed to revolutionize career navigation through cutting-edge technology and strategic partnerships. We focus on Nevada's key sectors: healthcare, advanced manufacturing, agriculture, renewable energy, skilled trades, IT, and logistics. Learn more
The ICM process supports a diverse range of individuals, including the unemployed, young adults entering the workforce, people re-entering the workforce, and those seeking career advancement. It is especially beneficial for people in rural and minority communities, providing access to industry-recognized training leading to credentials of value and STEM in-demand job opportunities. The ICM process utilizes a career readiness assessment combined with a virtual reality collection consisting of 35 field trips, 5 job shadowing experiences, 68 3D models, and 5-course companions. Using these resources, the process also offers preparation for the National Career Readiness Certification (NCRC). The collection helps individuals gain insights into various industries, identify essential occupational skills, and create an individual career map. Learn more
Increasing labor market literacy helps individuals better understand job market trends, in-demand skills, and career opportunities. This empowers individuals to make informed career decisions, adapt to changing economic conditions, and effectively navigate the workforce. Learn more
The ICM program connects workforce professionals from various sectors into a Community of Practice (CoP). The CoP works from the same real-time labor market information and tech-forward resources. These assets are specific to Nevada - both statewide and regionally - and curated by a trusted source: the library. Through the CoP, career services are powerfully synchronized. Learn more
In partnership with Middle Tennessee State University, we are conducting applied research to investigate virtual reality career exploration and training initiatives in libraries and their role in yielding positive workforce outcomes for patrons. Learn more
